* He put his headcloth in place and secured it with a ring made of camel skin.

 

* It was bunched up, and he had hardly thought of it for a long time.

→ Bunch up : 일정한 모양 없이 마구 흐트러진 모양새로 꾸겨져 있는 옷 또는 천 뭉치를 말한다. 여기서는 양치기 소년의 오래된 주머니를 말함.

 

* For nearly a year, he had been working incessantly, thinking only of putting aside enough money so that he could return to Spain with pride.

 

* The boy picked up Urim and Thummim, and, once again, had the strange sensation that the old king was nearby.

 

* It's almost as if he had been here and left his mark, he thought.

 

* He was more confident in himself, though, and felt as though he could conquer the world.

→ Though가 문장에 두 번 나와 잠시 혼란이 올 수 있지만 첫 번째 Though는 앞 문장과 반대되는 But(그러나, 하지만)과 같은 의미로 사용 되고 있으며, as though는 as if(마치 ~처럼)와 같은 뜻으로 쓰였다. 즉, 해석하자면, '하지만 그는 그 자신에 대해 더 자신이 있었고, 마치 세상을 정복할 수 있는 것처럼 느꼈다.'

 

But as he held Urim and Thummim in his hand, they had transmitted to him the strength and will of the old king.

 

By coincidence - or maybe it was an omen, the boy thought - he came to the bar he had entered on his first day there.

 

* He suddenly felt tremendously happy.
